Il 24 giugno si è concluso il workshop “Maintenance1:1” svolto presso la Portineria di Quartiere Mestre - via Piave e in contemporanea al padiglione Germania ai Giardini della Biennale. Gli apprendisti falegnami della Deutsche Werkstätten di Hellerau, gli studenti e le studentesse dell'UdK di Berlino e dell'Università Iuav di Venezia hanno lavorato insieme alle associazioni veneziane ETICity e Biennale Urbana, sotto la guida dei curatori Summacumfemmer.
Le azioni di cura e manutenzione degli spazi interni ed esterni della Portineria avevano lo scopo di agire con piccoli interventi laddove fosse necessario, attraverso delle migliorie e senza stravolgere l’assetto originale. Nel corso della settimana sono state issate le vele per ombreggiare la corte, sono stati realizzati dei vani contenitori ad hoc per alloggiare gli attrezzi per le attività di giardinaggio, sono state assemblate delle strutture leggere in legno per rialzare i vasi e annaffiarli più facilmente oppure per poterle utilizzare come sedute, il cancello di accesso alla corte è stato pulito e ridipinto, è stata costruita una nuova compostiera e inoltre sono state pulite la serrande e le vetrine, ora dotate anche di un sistema per appendere le locandine degli eventi della Portineria e della città. 
Il lavoro di collaborazione tra le varie realtà coinvolte ha permesso in breve tempo di trovare la giusta sinergia per realizzare un progetto coerente con le richieste iniziali, grazie alle competenze e conoscenze messe in comune da tutti. Le attività di progettazione e di realizzazione dei vari elementi nei giorni a disposizione hanno portato a un risultato ammirevole che arricchisce gli spazi della Portineria di nuove dotazioni. Il progetto “Open for Maintenance / Wegen Umbau geöffnet/Aperto per manutenzione”, è a cura di ARCH+, Summacumfemmer e Büro Juliane Greb e rientra nelle attività del Padiglione Germania che partecipa alla Biennale di Architettura di Venezia di quest’anno. Il workshop presso la Portineria di Quartiere Mestre - via Piave si è avvalso anche del sostegno di Cavv-Csv di Venezia.

This weekend saw the conclusion of the "Maintenance1:1" workshop held at the Portineria di Quartiere Mestre - via Piave and simultaneously at the German Pavilion at the “Giardini Biennale”. Apprentice carpenters from Deutsche Werkstätten in Hellerau, students from UdK Berlin and Università Iuav di Venezia worked together with Venetian associations ETICity and Biennale Urbana, under the guidance of curators Summacumfemmer.
The actions of care and maintenance of the interior and exterior spaces of the Portineria aimed to act with small interventions where necessary, through better ones, and without distorting the original arrangement. Over the course of the week, sails were hoisted to shade the courtyard, storage compartments were made to house tools for gardening activities, light wooden structures were assembled to raise pots and water them more easily or to be used as seating, the gate to the courtyard was cleaned and repainted, a new compost bin was built, and in addition, the shutters and shopwindows were cleaned and now also equipped with a system for hanging posters of Portineria and city events.
The collaborative work among the various entities involved made it possible in a short time to find the right synergy to realize a project consistent with the intial requirements, thanks to the skills and knowledge pooled by all. The activities of designing and implementing the various elements in the days available led to an admirable result that enriches the spaces of the Portineria with new equipment. The outcomes of the workshop can be admired during the usual opening hours of the Portineria Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in via Piave 65 or by writing to portineria.qpi@gmail.com.
